possible to use true shading editor settings for HQ image?

possible to use true shading editor settings for HQ image?

possible to use true shading editor settings for HQ image?

Is it possible to use the true shading editor settings for the HQ image? The true shading looks much better than anything I can come up with myself in the HQ image. But also it is so much faster!!! I would like to make a turn table animation from this true shading editor, but I don't know how. I can do it from a HQ image, but it takes forever to render and it looks not even 1/10th as good.

RE: possible to use true shading editor settings for HQ image?

Sorry, we're talking Apples and Oranges here.  Rendering of HQ images is basically a software task, while 'True Shading' is leveraging the rendering engine of the hardware (i.e., graphics card).

The closest relationship between HQ rendering and hardware driven display is the 'Studio' display mode, at least that was the case until NX 8.0, where we've now sort of created a hybrid imaging mode called 'True Studio'.  Here you will have many of the features of 'True Shading' but where anytime you wish to you can hit the 'HQ Render' button and software rendering will take over and create a High Quality image which can be used wherever an actual pixel-based file is appropriate.

Of course, there's nothing stopping you from simply going to...

File -> Export ->

...and selecting one of the image file formats, such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF or BMP, and capturing the image that you see on the screen while running in 'True Shading' mode.  But remember, the image properties will only be as good as the resolution and size of your NX display window, but many situations that may be enough.

ok, thanks. I didn't get at first that true shading could be applied to the default modeling mode and the animation window. I will have to do a lot of exports, but it be so.

I don't get the HQ image. I guess you need some training how lighting works and all that to get something pretty out of it. So far all my HQ trials are dull and flat.

With HQ rendering, as well as Studio display, you have to assign explicit material types to the bodies and/or faces of your model as well as textures, enable and position your lights, determine what shadow options you wish to use, pick a rendering 'Method',  etc.  It is something which you will have to use a bit to get the experience and learn the little tricks and techniques needed to get really good looking images.

does a recipe exist to make a HQ image look like a true shading image? :)

RE: possible to use true shading editor settings for HQ image?

I've never tried to develop one and now with NX 8.0 and the new 'True Studio' mode, I doubt that anyone will even try.

It was worth a try.
