structural design of ramp

I wanted to know the procedure for design of ramp for underground two storey parking

RE: structural design of ramp

Pretty much a beam (slab) on a bit of a slope.  You will get some lateral loads in the direction of the slab.  Also some impact lads for those idiots that drive like maniacs.  And watch your head clearances.

Thank you Mike
I have to design a ramp for two storied basement parking. The storey height is 3.6m and width of ramp is 6m.
I am planning to design as straight ramp supported by column of upper floor and lower floor or suggest me other ideas for designing ramp.also i wanted to now about design loads, slope of ramp and other design constraints. Can i design it as one way slab.

RE: structural design of ramp

and if your ramp slope is too steep, you will require transitions at the bottom and top to prevent the vehicle from 'bottoming' out.

Thank you Dik but i don't have any idea for designing transitions for ramp.

RE: structural design of ramp

Most transportation books have it as well as AASHTO I think.  A good architectural book will have it.
