What is pre-qualification of WPS as covered in Chapter 3 of AWS D1.1?
Such pre-qualification is not discussed in ASME Section IX.

Prequalified WPSs are WPS that do not need to be qualified by testing. As long as all the requirements of Clause 3 are met, the WPS need only be written before it is used for production.

ASME does not subscribe to the concept of prequalifications.

Although ASME does recognize the use of many AWS Standard Welding Procedure Specifications that only require a Demonstration Test.
