hello all,

looking for a free program that will allow me to define multi (various length) span beams with various applied loading and solve for shear and moment at various locations, as well as support reactions.

i've found beamboy somewhat useful, but it can be frustrating to find values other than the maximums, and doesnt really do much with shear.

anyone got anything better? thanks!

RE: free beam analysis tool

I haven't used Beamboy in a while, but if memory serves me correct there is a fairly simple option where you can ask the program to provide the analysis values at any point along the beam you define. Only one point at a time, but it doesn't take long to type in the defined point and reanalyze.

RE: free beam analysis tool

what happened to all the "beamboy" and "beamgirl" posts ?

big brother is watching ... smile

RE: free beam analysis tool

AELLC - you probably got it from AISC's Steel Tools web site. I've used it before; it does the job.

that spreadsheet is pretty nifty, but since my other post got deleted i'll just mention that an extra license for a paid software package we have was made available to me, so that solves my problem for now.

thanks guys!
