High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

(OP)
Hello,
I have a problem that I think is a bit out of my league - I deal with mostly LV stuff. A customer of mine has gone out and bought some large generators, with the intention of powering their farm when there is no mains power. The farm is very spread out, and so it has around 30 small transformers that go from 22kV/415V.

They want to install the generators at the mains of the farm, on the 22kV. They would have to use a step up transformer because the generators are 415V.

I have done a search on the internet and can't find any automatic transfer switches at high voltage. I thought about an automatic transfer switch on the low voltage side, but then I will backfeed into the grid. I guess I'll need some way of isolating the mains.

Has anyone seen something like this done before, and if so how? I would like to eliminate as much HV gear as possible - I know it's expensive and it is money that they won't have.

Thanks

RE: High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

Something like the S&C Vista gear might work, what ever is locally available.  But if you are talking less than about 3MW, it might still be easier to step down and then back up allowing the use of LV gear.

RE: High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

check out ASCO/Emerson for an ATS

RE: High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

Try google that: medium voltage transfert switch

Thanks, worked a treat. I know it sounds stupid, but I was googling "high voltage transfer switch" and coming up with jack.

RE: High Voltage Automatic Transfer Switch?

Since you are proposing 22kV, type:

medium voltage transfer switch

You'll get several sources like Eaton and GE
