Conduit for submarine Fiber Optic Cable
Conduit for submarine Fiber Optic Cable
(OP)
Does a conduit(a steel protection tube) within which there will be a fiber optic cable needs application of anodes(for cathodic protection)??
When was the last time you drove down the highway without seeing a commercial truck hauling goods?

RE: Conduit for submarine Fiber Optic Cable
I do a lot of stuff with high salinity salt water, and unless it is stainless steel (or maybe *marine* grade aluminium if the salinity isn't too high) the tube will be gone in a few years. In that case I would add an anode. But then it only lasts as long as the anode, unless someone regularly replaces it.
Why not use submersible fibre cable? I know that it is available, just like regular submersible power cable.
RE: Conduit for submarine Fiber Optic Cable
Can you suggest me what kind of varnish must be applied on the conduit to preserve it in a submarine location??
thank you so much!!
