Flow Velocity for Sludge Applications

Flow Velocity for Sludge Applications

Flow Velocity for Sludge Applications

(OP)
Hello All,

I'm putting together a test pilot that is intended to run at a rated capacity of 200 gpm and preparing to use 6" nitrile lined hose. My concern is at 200 gpm I'm looking at a velocity as low as 2.25 ft/s.

I question if that velocity is high enough to prevent any solid waste clogging in bends, valves or fittings. The fluid medium is digester sludge and I'm considering 4" hoses instead of 6"

Any literature or input is appreciated.
