Modeling Sponge (foam) in Pro E

Modeling Sponge (foam) in Pro E

Hi, I am trying to model sponge (i.e. soft foam with porous surface) in proE. Does anyone know how to do this? I would like to get more realistic representation of the surface in 3d model. please help.

RE: Modeling Sponge (foam) in Pro E

Pro/E is not designed with realistic graphical representations in mind in the slightest. The best you will do is to model a volume and apply a texture to the surface representing the pores. A 3D modeler more suited to visual representation will do a better job, 3DS Max for example with a texture applied and a bump map to represent the pores.

You could model the volume then apply loads of spherical remove material extrusions but it would be a tedious way of doing it.

Thanks for the input. I will try 3DS max.

Try Blender first as its free and there are numerous tutorials lying around the internet, it's not quite as easy to use though.
