Foundations for testing equipment

Foundations for testing equipment

Foundations for testing equipment

(OP)
I need help with installing and placing two testing machines.
First, it's a Charpy pendulum, weight of the pendulum hammer approx. 20kg. I have found several informations, besides specifications, but any further reading might help.
The second, a 300kN universal testing machine, fatigue testing the main problem, must work at 60Hz. Here I am completely in the dark.
There are no specifications from the producer, except bolt machine to the floor. I need some specifications for a foundation for this type of use, but i have failed to find such.
I hope someone on this forum had some similar experience, or, at least, could point several books, standards (if there are any).
Must say that i'm a materials engineer, not familiar with these details.
Thank you in advance.

RE: Foundations for testing equipment

You may want to talk to the machine supplier... for the Charpy tester, I would probably use a mass of concrete 3 to 5 times the weight of the equipment (this is recommended in many machine foundation manuals).  Most of the loading for the 300 kN will be contained within the testing equipment 'frame'.  For the test equipment, however, in particular due to the cyclical fatigue loading, I would discuss this with a geotekkie... and, while you're at it, you might want to touch on the Charpy machine...
