Linking dimensions to Solidworks BOM

Linking dimensions to Solidworks BOM

Linking dimensions to Solidworks BOM

(OP)
I am trying to Link Overall lengths, Widths, and heights to one column (just to show size of part).  I'm sure this is simple, just looking for the right buttons.

Example:

DIMENSIONS
-------------------
2.00 x 3.00 x 1.00

RE: Linking dimensions to Solidworks BOM

It is simple, simple VB syntax.

Obviously, in a design table you can only bring one dim into one column. So if you want to have multiple dims in a column you have to create a formula such as =$a4 & "x" & $b4 & "x" & $c4. This formula can be assigned to a parameter column in the design table which can be imported into a BOM via custom properties.

How do I link the dimensions into custom properties?  Do I have to select the dimension from my sketch or feature?

I do not see any articles...

Perhaps your Help is different from mine (2009). On the Index tab, $PRP is the first entry. You don't even have to do a search. Read the help article and follow the hyperlinks. As you study $PRP and it's associated topics you will find out how it gets you to the BOM.

RE: Linking dimensions to Solidworks BOM

In my stock part I have a property called 'size' which is defined in terms of the starting feature:
"d1@sketch1" x "d2@sketch1" x "d1@extrude1"
That value is a column in the BOM.
