Controlling Layers
Controlling Layers
(OP)
Hi,
I'm working with another engineer with CAD model & his Layers settings isn't working properly.
Despite going to the layers settings to select or deslect layers, he has to go to, Visible In View to make entities viewable or not vieable.
How can this be fixed so he can simply go to the Layers Settings?
Thanks

RE: Controlling Layers
activate the problem view ->
open the visible in view dialog and used the reset to global button
RE: Controlling Layers
Yes, I agree that the Visible In View should only be used in drawings.
I'm not sure if there's some type of configuration setting in this guy has in his NX 6 CAD preferences or something else, but the Reset Global is only a temporary fix as well.
Still seeking ways to fix this (annoyance) issue.
Thanks

If this issue is a 'part setting' issue, then why can I change the preferences or something within this part?

Your suggestions works to some degree & may work better when in the drafting side, but for the modeling side, I'm still not seeing a good sultion.
Any other thoughts?

RE: Controlling Layers
Go to
Info > Other > View (then select model view from list)
and make sure "visible Layers" are listed as "global"
And another tip . . . before you "reset to global" make sure that all of your layers are set tio "visible and selectable"
and that after you "reset to global" save the view
RE: Controlling Layers
We are using NX 6, but I've also seen this (annoyance) issue in NX 7.5 too.
Jerry1423,
I'll try your suggestions shortly & get back to everyone to see how well it works.
Thanks
