Hello, looking for some help with crash in instance create
(OP)
Hello,
Recently I've been introduced to ABAQUS, but when I attempted the very first tutorial on creating a cantilever I ran into an odd crash.
It seems like every time I try to create an instance under assembly the program crashes instantly. So far it's been like clockwork, usually when I hit the ok button, the apply button, or when I press the checkbox "auto-offset from other instances".
If anyone has seen this before, or has an idea of how I can avoid this crash I would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

I think re-installing is probably worth a shot, unfortunately since this is a classroom edition of the software I can't really put it on multiple machines without speaking to the professor quite some time in advance.
On that note, the professor mentioned that it may be due to low memory or a bad graphics driver. Can anyone give extra weight to this suggestion? I can't say I like the idea, but if it is the case then the answer is simply that the laptop I am using isn't up to the task of running this program.
Just some extra info: I am using ABAQUS-CAE version 6.9, on a 64 bit windows 7 laptop.

Also try doing another couple of tutorials, maybe you are doing something funny in the cantilever one.
