NT 4.0 server crashing

NT 4.0 server crashing

NT 4.0 server crashing

(OP)
Machine:  P3-650, 512mb ram, 40 gig drive, NT4.0 sp6a, all updates.  Running Solid Edge Ver 11 licensing server service and Symantec System Center (primary).  SE is run on a computer in Engineering (no problem with that), only the licensing is on this server.

Problem:  Server gets a BSOD and dumps, then restarts.  Crashing is intermittent but about every other day.  Have not been able to force it by using SE or been able to link SE use to crashes, but I am off site.  Server also seems to crash a lot during backup.  Can (almost reliably) force a crash by starting a manual backup.  Anyone ever experience this?

The server was a 1 year old unit reconfigured as a bdc and installed at the end of June, SE upgraded from 10 to 11 at that time.  The server ran perfectly for 2-3 weeks before the crashing started.  At first we thought it was hardware so we changed:
ram, hard drive, fans, power supply, in short everything but the motherbord and cpu with no effect.

Our next plan is to remove licensing services from this machine and do it locally to see if the crashing stops.

Any other suggestions?
