API 1104 , par 9.6.2.3 - how to interpret it???

(OP)
Dear all,

Sorry newbie, i would like to ask you how to interpret below :

9.6.2.3  Linear- surface (LB)  indications (other than cracks)
interpreted  to be open to the I.D. or O.D. surface shall be con-
sidered defects  should any of the following conditions exist:
a.  The aggregate length  of LB  indications  in  any  continuous
12-in.  (300-mm)  length  of weld exceeds  2  in.  (50  mm).
b.  The aggregate length  of LB Indications excceeds 8% of  the
weld  length.

example, our weld length 600mm, found LB at 50-70 (20mm) , 120-129(9mm), 220-240(20mm), 305-309(10mm), 450-471(21mm), 550-565(15mm). FYI, our marking 0,100,200,300,400,500,600.

my understanding the weld rejected by condition (a) coz at 200-500mm weld got LB > 50 mm ( 51 mm ). also condition (b) exist due to LB indications total = 95 mm ( exceed LB = 8% x 600mm = 48 mm)

Please advise.

The weld would also be rejected at 50-350mm where 20+9+20=10=55mm > 50mm.

Advice?  Reject the weld.  If it were borderline, there might be other corrective actions to consider, but I don't know an inspector that would pass the weld under the conditions you listed.
