Hi

I don´t understand why this shot shown if my workstation has administrator resources.
Someone of you know ow can I get acces?

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

Do you have adminsitrator rights within NX?
Totally different from workstation/OS admin rights.

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

Obscure issue - Have you rebooted your workstation today?

I tell my users that they should reboot at least once a week, if not daily. Also log off at night, not just lock the system with their CAD program still up.

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

Do you have write access to the location of the customer defaults file?

And possibly more importantly, what did you change the last time you had access?

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

Have you rebooted? Windows memory does get totally released by just a logoff.

I already rebooted my workstation and the acces still in "read only".
I will call to the PLM support in my country to check this.

Thanks for your tips

Hi

Let me comment something:
1) Create a folder in C: call "customer_defaults"
2) Looking for file "ugii_env_ug.dat" in folder UGII [C:program files\Siemens\NX 8.0\UGII]
3) Find UGII_LOCAL_USER_DEFAULTS=
4) Change the text after "=" in both lines "C:\customer_defaults\NX8_user.dpv"
5) Update the file
6) Start NX

Ready! now you can change parameters in:
files>utilities>customer defaults

Best regards

Tom

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

You have created a copy of the system installed customer default file so you should have RW permission on it. The original customer default file will still be at your original location.

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

A question about something mentioned above:

"4) Change the text after "=" in both lines "C:\customer_defaults\NX8_user.dpv"

Instead of pointing to a file on the C:\ drive can it be pointing to something on the network that all the users can access ?

RE: Customer Defaults NX7.5

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as your network is reliable winky smile

However, if you're going to do that I would set up a 'site' .dpv file for everyone to point to, and leave each user with his only local 'user' .dpv files since these are applied sequentially: when NX is launched it first reads the 'site' file, then the 'group' files and finally the 'user' file, with the 'user' file 'winning' if it has a different setting than either the 'site' or 'group' file shows.  If there are any settings which you don't want the users to change/override, you can lock them at the 'site' or 'group' level which the user will see as being grayed-out when he opens Customer Defaults.

To get more information on setting up these various levels of Customer Defaults, go to the Help files and search on "Customer Defaults options".  Once you get to this page you will find additional information under the 'How to' and 'Related Topics', where you will find a topic covering 'Levels of customer defaults'.
