pump loads on foundation
(OP)
Hi every body
I want to calculate a centrifugal pump load on its foundation, would you please kindly advise me how can I proceed or introduce me a reference?
Thanks

RE: pump loads on foundation
2) Divide the answer by half the mounting bolt centre distance to give the force in Newtons.
You are going to ask how to calculate the pump shaft torque aren't you?
RE: pump loads on foundation
You guess right, how to calculate the pump shaft torque?
and what about the dynamic forces?
RE: pump loads on foundation
Assuming 65% Overall Efficiency, less if you have other efficiency losses.
Hydraulic Power / 0.65 = Total Power
Torque = Total Power / Angular Velocity (radians)
Result will be in Nm.
Divide by centre distance in m to leave the force N.
What dynamic forces are you expecting to encounter? What is the application? Other than gravity, what accelerating forces are you expecting?
RE: pump loads on foundation
These forces may be because of unbalanceis or flow variations, or ....
RE: pump loads on foundation
As would flow variations.
If the pump is mounted in some awkward manner, like on an engine, then you would need to do some FEA to be sure.
Otherwise just assume lower overall efficiency...50%??
That should give you a safe margin.
