Hi! My problem is I don' t know what are possibilties to repair aftre that I take a a little specimen from a pressure vessel.
Is there a code for repair that or kind of welding procedure..or anyting.
Has anybody got an experince in the core drilling specimen sampling? What kind of sampling methods are there for sampling a part of a tube.
I'm a beginner in this field, so my knowledge is not enough. So please help me, where can I find the correct ansvers. Thank you!!

RE: repair-specimen
Yes, follow API 510 for weld repairs after sample removal. There are older editions of API 510 that may be found in the public domain.
What are you trying to accomplish with material sampling? Are you trying to evaluate the condition of the pressure vessel material because of some process corrosion or cracking problem with the material or perform mechanical testing to evaluate properties because of known damage in service?
You can remove samples from vessels using a boat saw or by removing a scoop sample. For tubes it depends on the wall thickness. In most cases for tubes you can have an outside materials engineering firm perform surface replication to evaluate the condition of the tube material. No sample is removed for testing, the surface replication involves field polishing and chemical etching to view the microstructure.
Szasza, the material sampling options I mentioned above and surface replication are for experienced materials engineers. You cannot learn this in short time and apply it directly, this requires the expertise of a materials engineer versed in pressure vessel applications. Seek a materials engineer to help you with what you want to achieve, you cannot do this alone.
