Modeling perforations plates with simplified approach

Modeling perforations plates with simplified approach

(OP)
Hi guys,

I have to perform a steady state thermal analysis of a square multiperforated metal plate. Since I need to run several configurations to perform an optimization I would like to avoid meshing the holes so I can use same mesh for all holes distribution. The idea is to apply an equivalent heat source/sink term in a solid model without holes. The case is fully 3D (solid87), how can I apply those additional thermal loads corresponding to the perforations?

Can I use monodimensional elements along the hole centerline to model such behavior? I would like to apply convective thermal conditions in terms of film temperature and heat transfer coefficients.

Thanks for replying

Ale
