Evaluating an existing PEMB from the 1960's.  NO eng'g drawings or info other than what can be field measured.  Read the previous thread re Fy for Z's from the mid 1970's.  Same question for Z's (or C's) from the 1960's.  I know this stuff was all proprietary and was all over the board re Fy, and I was planning on using Fy=33 ksi to be safe, unless someone out there knows if lower Fy's were used in the 1960's ?

RE: Fy of OLD COLD FORMED Z SHAPES

Do you have a brand name on the building?  Assuming the particular company is still in business they should be able to tell you what their cold-form yield was for a particular era.

absolutely no info other than what can be field measured.

RE: Fy of OLD COLD FORMED Z SHAPES

Take a couple of coupons and have them tested.

RE: Fy of OLD COLD FORMED Z SHAPES

Test them - but 33 KSI would seem reasonable.
