HydraLIST
HydraLIST
(OP)
Does anybody use this program? Every time I have to list a job with it I want to chuck my computer across the room. The thing NEVER works how its supposed to. And to add on to the problem is that HydaCAD wants to charge you an arm and a leg for customer support on how to use their program. So there isn't a great source out there to even learn the program so you aren't running into to problems non stop.
Has anyone figured out the program enough so that you don't run into problems listing? Or is there a resource out there that could help me with the issues I'm running into?
I may need to just go back to listing by hand from now on cause HydraLIST is an absolute waste of time.

RE: HydraLIST
It does do threaded lines and grooved mains very well. You can list the bulk of your project quickly and easily but the misc. items I always mess up on.
RE: HydraLIST
I always had a rough time with the loose material doing an AutoList and would typically just manually do the loose material stuff. I think you are suffering from a lack of training on the program. It may be 'expensive,' but if you are wasting 4 hrs per list and you do only 50 lists in a year, that is 200 man hours wasted. I am sure that the training is less than 200 man hours / yr.

RE: HydraLIST
Are calcs working for you? I would assume if lists are not working correctly than calcs are also giving you some grief.
If you don't have any strong users in your office than you may want to bite the bullet and have HydraTec come in and give you some tech support. I do a lot of the trouble shooting in our office and 99% of the time the problems people are running into are user error.
Like I said, make sure your drawing models correctly and most of the time the drawing will list correctly unless I put the wrong listing tags on the drawing. Also make sure you are running an up to date version of the software. I know that listing has been significantly better with some of the updates in the last two years.
The other stand by fix is if a certain drawing won't list correctly turn on and unlock all of your layers. Do a copyclip and paste into a new drawing. Then give it another try. Some times the drawings get corrupt and if you copyclip to another drawing you can leave behind whatever was making the drawing not work correctly.
If you are hitting a specific error post it here or some screen shots. I may be able to help you out with it.
