Multiple relief devices protecting vessels, code stamped?
Multiple relief devices protecting vessels, code stamped?
(OP)
We have been getting various direction (all different opinions) from various people in management and safety.
We are currently looking at all the relief devices installed which are protecting vessels in all of our systems. Many of the larger storage and conditioning units have multiple devices. Usually the case is the vessel will have a relief valve sized for protecting the vessel, and a rupture disk sized for thermal expansion cases.
As we have gotten so many differing opinions, I'm curious if anyone knows what Code calls out. Does it say that all the devices must be code stamped?
Usually in our systems the "primary" relief valve is code stamped, and the "backup" rupture disk is not code stamped.
Thanks for the help
