recently read an article describing solutions for selecting replacement for obsolete or EOL mosfets by matching voltages,  rds(on)to within certain % ect. All internet searches did not contain any of the information from the article.I Would be greatful for a link or the author to post the original article.

Doesn't sound like a very good article from your description.  The replacement component should fit the needs of the circuit, not match the replaced component to within a few %.  Low rds may mean nothing for a circuit that is acting as a simple low-power switch.  Low gate capacitance may mean nothing to a circuit that has a very slow switching time.  A 50V component may easily replace one in a circuit originally designed with a 12V component.

If you don't know what specs are of interest, grab the local EE and ask... but trying to match a spec without knowing if you actually need it is silly.
