Local reference system
Local reference system
(OP)
I need to create a local reference system applied to a two elements beam rigid body. I tried the command *TRANSFORM but the user manual writes as follows:
"The transformed coordinate reference systeme system is always a set of fixed Cartesian axes at a node (even for cylindrical or spherical transforms). These transformed directions are fixed in space; the directions do not rotate as the node moves. Therefore, even in large-displacement analysis, the displacement components must always be given with respect to these fixed directions in space".
Is it possible to control a rigid body DOF (for example its torsion) following their movements/rotations in the space? At the same way, is it possible to read the output about positions and displacements with respect to its local reference system?
Thank you in advance.
Regards.

RE: Local reference system
If you control your movement with *CLOAD you can use FOLLOWER option.
I do not think you can do it with *BOUNDARY keyword.
To save history data with coordinate system assigned to specific node please use following keyword:
*NODE OUTPUT, GLOBAL=NO
