Remove node set from Abaqus analysis

Remove node set from Abaqus analysis

Remove node set from Abaqus analysis

(OP)
Hi

I am investigating a steel plate shear wall in abaqus using a 2 step analysis (1-axial load, 2-lateral displacement)I am trying to avoid placing prestress on the infill plate under the axial load.

Is there a way to run an abaqus analysis with a specific region in the model "disabled"

thanks

RE: Remove node set from Abaqus analysis

Perhaps you should make the part as 2 parts. I don't think you can suppress a set of nodes...I do know you can suppress parts though.

Thanks for your quick response,

I think I may have found a solution;
i was trying to introduce a geometric imperfection into the model and it became unstable (even under RIKS analysis). I thought this was probably due to the prestress in the plate from the axial load.

However I am now introducing the imperfection to a specific node set only (the plate) and the model is running very smoothly.
Hope this is of use to anyone.

thanks again mechfeeney
