Hi everyone.

I am somewhat out of my element here, please help.  Trying to get some small custom made quartz crucibles produced for hot tension testing of steel.  Having trouble getting anyone to quote and I need to know why so I can properly re-design.  The troublesome parts are a quartz crucible and containment crucible, drawings attached.

The lengths of tubes protruding from the containment crucible are not defined and are not critical to the experiment.  Is the wall thickness to small?  Too difficult to produce and a completely new design needed?  Any help would be appreciated.

For some background if interested, please see the attached paper showing the type of test I am looking to reproduce:

Thanks in advance

RE: custom quartz crucibles

Reduce the subtended angle of the 2 mm side radius on the crucible to 180 degrees or less, just enough to act as a retainer.  Then contact a glass house for a quote.  I can suggest Precision Electronic Glass in Vineland, New Jersey - www.pegglass.com

Much appreciated, Ceramicguy.  I will make the corrections and contact your suggested vendor.
