Yes, you should be able to do that, however with family table parts it's even easier than what I described in that other post. You will be able to control the entire threaded-hole with a single expression, the one which represents the 'Thread Size'.  Now if you only want to control the size and not the depth, simply create your part family and include the Expression with represents the 'Thread Size'.  Now when you look at the spreadsheet you will see that the value inserted into that field does not have quotes (" ") around it so you will need to add them to make it work.  Also for the other family members with different size threaded holes you need to make sure that the values that you're entering into the Part Family spreadsheet represent valid thread sizes.
