Gut Line Versus Choke, What is the Difference?

Gut Line Versus Choke, What is the Difference?

Gut Line Versus Choke, What is the Difference?

(OP)
Note, all is good.  I've found my answer.  This is what I sent to my collegue.  We are working on a database and just needed to make sure we were entering the correct size in the correct column.

"I have seen this term, gut line, before, but I believe it is not the same thing as the choke.  The gut line, from what I understand is the line (not the choke) that is opened to allow discharge into the flare pit / test facility (as you indicate).

Here is an example of some field notes I had handy:

SHIFT CHANGE SAFETY MEETING.
INCREASE CHOKE SIZE TO 16/64 OR 6.35 mm.
INCREASE CHOKE SIZE TO 20/64 OR 7.94 mm.
INCREASE CHOKE SIZE TO GUT LINE OR 38.10 mm.
BURNABLE GAS TO SURFACE; OPEN WELL TO FLARE.
DRY FLOW GAS METER IN SERVICE ON A 1" OR 25.40 mm ORIFICE PLATE."
