Changing area numbers in a dynamic model!!

Changing area numbers in a dynamic model!!

Changing area numbers in a dynamic model!!

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I have an interesting problem that has been plaguing me for a while now. I have a 2D model created using APDL which is a dynamic one in that each iteration, there is a moving part which moves based on its temperature until a certain convergence criteria is met for the temperatures.

The issue is that even though the areas only move by a small amount, occasionally under certain criteria, when ANSYS creates the geometry, it changes the numbering of the areas. This becomes a issue when meshing the geometry as the area numbers need to be changed for different iterations.

Is there any workaround for this issue? I know that it is possible to select areas based on the "hot spot" location but I haven't had any success using this. Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks
