Trying to make a stripper

Trying to make a stripper

Trying to make a stripper

(OP)
I am trying to extrude a rectangle up to a part, the rectangle is larger than the part, I just want the surface of the part cut into the stripper.  It is a pretty complex part, and no option seems to work.  I get either 'the body does not fully terminate the extrusion', or 'the end face cannot terminate the extruded feature'.  How do I make a part that is bigger than the area I want to extrude to?

RE: Trying to make a stripper

This is probably very over simple, but if I've wanted to do that I start at the part and extrude away from it. Can you work out how big it needs to be and go the opposite direction?

RE: Trying to make a stripper

You can probably extrude up to a reference plane and combine-subtract the bodies.  Difficult to tell without seeing the model.

Offset surfaces zero distance.
Extend the surfaces at boundaries to cover your extrusion.
Attach your file here if you can't figure it out.
