Components still look like they are selected even though they are not

Components still look like they are selected even though they are not

Components still look like they are selected even though they are not

(OP)
In NX 4 (our last version) we often had an issue where if you selected a component or even a face or edge etc, then hit escape or deselect all, the part would deselect however the component/geometry would still show the selection colour and it was tricky to get get it to display its normal colour (ususally a delete and undo would work) Having just moved to NX 7.5.3, we are still seeing this same issue. Does any one else get this issue? Is there a setting that I can change to stop it happening. It doesn't really bother me, however I have some real moaning users giving me grief.

Many thanks

Best regards

RE: Components still look like they are selected even though they are not

I sometimes see the same behavior, and usually hitting the F5 button does the trick. Or the fit command can also help in some cases. It's the same with Show the degrees of freedom in assembly, they also stay on the screen until hitting F5.
Maybe someone else has another solution, or can give a reason for this.

Best regards,

Michaël.

So you have to use the part clean up every time this happens? I know what my users are going to say if that is the case.mad

Yes, you do.

We've gone so far as adding a default accelerator (F11) in our MEN file to open the Part Cleanup dialog.

Try "VIEW --> OPERATION --> REGENERATE WORK"

Works for me. I even added the button to my toolbar because parts get "stuck" highlighted so often.

RE: Components still look like they are selected even though they are not

CAE models aren't immune to this problem either. We don't have any part clean up tools in CAE. I've observed a few workarounds:

1. Select the object again, then deselect
2. Change the displayed part file then back to the original

I've no idea what causes the problem, how to reproduce it, or how to ask development to fix it.

If we're dealing with components in an assembly, if you open the Assembly Navigator you may notice that the component is highlighted there as well.  Often it's easier to clear the selection by performing the deselect (shift-select) from the navigator rather than the display.
