Wire Ropes and turnbuckles meets ASTM?

Wire Ropes and turnbuckles meets ASTM?

Wire Ropes and turnbuckles meets ASTM?

Hi!

I´m having a litte confusion with the following:
-If I´m going to supply a vessel, it must meet ASTM in materiales (so for ASME too)
but....If I´m going to supply a vessel that contains auxiliary equipment as wire ropes and turnbuckles...these auxiliary stuff should not meet ASTM or ASME specs should it? I mean, in order to talk to my user, there is any document that I can support myself to tell that thsese auxiliary stuff should not meet ASME/ASTM but Federal Specification.

What do you think?

RE: Wire Ropes and turnbuckles meets ASTM?

Saver2008,
I think they should meet
ASTM F1145-92, for turnbuckles.  You can check with the wire rope tech board for any other standards you should meet. http://www.wireropetechnicalboard.org/

The good engineer does not need to memorize every formula; he just needs to know where he can find them when he needs them.  Old professor

If their failure could compromise safety then you need to work to a recognized standard.  That is what they are for.
