RECOMMENDED RUBBER TYPE FOR DEMINERALIZED WATER PIPE

RECOMMENDED RUBBER TYPE FOR DEMINERALIZED WATER PIPE

RECOMMENDED RUBBER TYPE FOR DEMINERALIZED WATER PIPE

(OP)
Hi!
Please let me know what is the recommended rubber type and thickness for rubber lining of demin water pipe (boiler feedwater).
thank you

RE: RECOMMENDED RUBBER TYPE FOR DEMINERALIZED WATER PIPE

Depends on the water temperature involved.  If it is less than 70 deg C then I would recommend a natural rubber based hose.  If more than this then an EPDM or butyl base would be better.

Thank you GrahamBennett,
Maximum operating temperature of demin water is 39 deg C.
We will use hard ruber lining with 4mm thickness. is that Ok?
Thank you

RE: RECOMMENDED RUBBER TYPE FOR DEMINERALIZED WATER PIPE

Hard rubber is ok but so is a good quality natural with hardness  60 -65 Deg.  A soft rubber forms its own gasket but hard  needs a soft rubber gasket to ensure a leak proof joint.  Beware of overtightening hard rubber joints - can crush the lining. Ideally the flanges should be flat faced to lessen chance of crushing.  How big are your pipes.

pipes are 10", 12" and 14".
how about ebonite 65 deg shore D.
we use soft gaskets 60 deg shore A.
regards,

NR-based ebonite should be OK.
