Post-CPT testing criteria for compaction grouting

Post-CPT testing criteria for compaction grouting

Post-CPT testing criteria for compaction grouting

(OP)
Does anyone have experience or references on setting up post-grouting CPT testing acceptance criteria, for a Sandy, stiff to very stiff Clay site improvement using compaction grouting? No water, the clay is dry.

What is the general range of CPT tip resistance and sleeve resistance range? I couldn't find any useful reference. Somebody told me for a clay site, the post-CPT tip resistance, is not reliable and so, CPT testing cannot be used. If that is the case, what testing should be used for a post-grouted clayey site?

RE: Post-CPT testing criteria for compaction grouting

compaction grouting is a ground improvement method which includes the word "compaction", therefore it is intended for granular soils and not fine grained materials. Although a stiff clay can be considered as an "elastic" material and will not show any "consolidation" behaviour, applying compaction grouting to this kind of soil will not lead you anywhere : you will not see any noticeable improvement of the soil mechanical characteristics which must be already good since it is described as stiff. If you need more then think about piling.
