Hello To All,

Can anybody tell me how to asign a Channel shape to a beam element with abaqus ?. As far as I know in the property module there are the following shapes: L, I, T, BOX, RECT but not "C".

Thanks in advance!

Ezequiel

RE: Asign Channel shape to a Beam Element

hi

with the version 6.10 or 6.11 of Abaqus you can asign a Channel shape to a beam element with Arbitrary option in the toolbox Create profiles

Yes it's called "Arbitrary Profile"

For us Patran users, we would just give the appropriate inertia properties (without worrying about a shape). The CAE pre processor doesn't have this capability?

Brian,
Yes it does have that option. You can specify I and Area for a "Generalized Profile." For his C profile, he can use "Arbitrary Profile" and define the curve and thickness.
