Flattening a cylindrical area of a part ina print
Flattening a cylindrical area of a part ina print
(OP)
I work with plumbing replacement stems and valves. I have a part that has the usual stem, threads but then has a cage that holds the piston for a certain type of stem which in turn has a hole pattern around the cage. I was wondering if anyone knew how to show this cylinder flattened in a print so that I am able to show the instances where the hole pattern are skipped?

RE: Flattening a cylindrical area of a part ina print
2) Delete the main body from the Solid Bodies folder ... this will create a Body-Delete feature in the Feature manager
3) Thicken the surface to say .001"
4) Create a axial slit along the thickened surface
5) Select one of the slit edges & Use the Insert Bends tool to create a Sheet Metal body
6) Use the Flatten tool to show the flattened state
