Parametirc Curve In Solidworks

Parametirc Curve In Solidworks

(OP)
Dear All,

I am working on complex 3D Parametric Curve Generation. The model uses around 150 Eq's [Including parameters] and around 300 Relations entities [to reduce the number of parameters]

Each time I update one single parameter, It takes around 30 Minutes [Max] to update the model.

I would also like to know, whether in Solidworks 2012 Version, Solidworks has Better Algorithm [Efficient] to reduce the rebuilding time period.

Presently, using SolidWorks 2011 Verion

Thank you

RE: Parametirc Curve In Solidworks

When you get into something that complex, it's just going to take time. While SolidWorks has improved equations in 2012. It was more along the lines of proper sorting of them which, in the end, would decrease rebuild time, but I don't think it'll do much for a 30 minute rebuild time.
Bear in mind, SolidWorks is mainly for mechanical design not "swoopy" stuff. While it can be used for "swoopy", it's going to have it's limitations.

Wow! 30 mins?

What are your computer specs?

RE: Parametirc Curve In Solidworks

Out of curiosity - what are you designing - can you attach an example or url to something similar?

@ JMirisola,

Thank you, for the information.

Thing is Kind of Swoopy, but Client needs it we are making it :D

@ Rollupswx

Sorry, cant reveal it nither state them.....

Make sure the Tools > Options > System Options > Performance > Verification On Rebuild option is disabled.

Are you able to test the file on a system with a faster CPU?

RE: Parametirc Curve In Solidworks

Before staring a flame war please note that I have MANY pro SWx posts.

I believe that Catia can handle this sort of problem with a much quicker rebuild time.  I have 2 very similar models in SWx and Catia and the rebuild time is well over 10X faster in Catia.

That being said I'm sure that if you made a representative model that this forum would be able to help with creating a 'lighter' model.

I hope this helps.

RE: Parametirc Curve In Solidworks

Behind the scenes you are creating a very complex matrix solution. As we all know n log(n) seems to rule. It is time to simplify and do your solution in steps.

On another note, if you can change the order of your equations solutions you might find a sweet spot which runs a lot faster.
