Modeling "Baggy" Packaging (e.g. heat sealed)
Modeling "Baggy" Packaging (e.g. heat sealed)
(OP)
I'm modeling a heat sealed package that would preferably be slightly associative to the contents of the package. (Something like this: http://i55.tinypic.com/2gsj37l.jpg )
This is more for a cosmetic representation so accuracy is not particularly important but having it pseudo-parametric (e.g. if I were changing contents) would be nice to have.
I started playing with the indent function but that gets you a pretty tight fit when really it should be more of a tent. Is there a way to set some sort of offset so that the faces of the package approach tangency at the extents? I don't know how to illustrate the actual seal but that seems minor compared to creating the geometry.
Or any other hints toward modeling this?
Thanks.

If you really need to model it, you can use the Freeform tool.

I think I'm going to try something like that though my surface experience is limited and my attempts thus far have not yielded the results I expect. I'm not working on it much at the moment but if I get something close(r) to done I may be able to post it for feedback.
Thanks.
