Code Cases - Are all code cases adopted into the code?

Code Cases - Are all code cases adopted into the code?

Code Cases - Are all code cases adopted into the code?

(OP)
Can someone explain how code cases work?  Are all of the code cases that ASME approves adopted into the code (either eventually or at the next version)?  Are there expiration dates given to code cases?  Are there restrictions to using the rules given in a code case?

RE: Code Cases - Are all code cases adopted into the code?

Code cases have a validity.  If you are working to a code revision out of the date range of the code case then you should not use it.

Today the intention is that all code cases will be adopted into the code.  The intention is to not renew them.  They will either die or become code.
Notice the word intention.  This is not hard and fast.

RE: Code Cases - Are all code cases adopted into the code?

Code Cases are generated based on need and specific application. Code Cases do not always become part of the Code book and, be warned, some Jurisdictions or regulatory bodies do not accept them for use.
