Part Number generation with EPDM

Part Number generation with EPDM

Part Number generation with EPDM

(OP)
We are using EPDM to generate part numbers for new files......
But, what if we have a file which was not created in using EPDM and now want to put it into the vault with the next available number, can this be done?

RE: Part Number generation with EPDM

It depends on the workflow you've set up.  There should be a method within the workflow that can accept existing files.  Are you the admin or a user (or both)?  If you are the admin, you should have access to the tools necessary to make changes to the workflow.

I am both.
Two people here have had the training and are suppose to show the other two of us but, they haven't shown us yet.  They themselves are having trouble figuring things out; I have figured out several things on my own so far, but we are stuck with this one.  Any help would be appreciated...

RE: Part Number generation with EPDM

Well, I'm getting a little rusty already from my training last year, but I believe you'll need to set up a new workflow to accept files already created, then have that workflow transfer the files to the existing workflow where your other files already reside.  You'll prolly have to modify existing workflow to know when a number wasn't assigned so that it will plug those file through a part number assignment step (a step that uses the same part number assignment object as is currently used for new parts).

I've done some digging around and ran across "copy tree", I think this might do what we are looking for.
