Hi!

I would like to learn about troubleshooting. I am mechanical dude so especially vibration, overheating etc. problems are in the area of interest.

Can you suggest some online articles, e-books or normal books about this topic?

RE: Articles/ Books about troubleshooting of electrical machines?

You may want to go back several years in this forum. Browse the thread titles and look at any of interest. It will be tough mining but rewarding. You may find some tips and techniques that are not in any text book.

Google the following two articles by Siemens... freely available:

"An Analytical Approach to Solving Motor Vibration Problems"

"Troubleshooting Induction Motors"

Sure this forum is also a great source for such information.

Thanks pete, nice articles.

Anyway, there is still plenty of space in my "library" if someone likes to share nice information :) Books with real life problems would be most intreresting...

RE: Articles/ Books about troubleshooting of electrical machines?

One of the old industry bibles for motor repair and troubleshooting has been Electric Motor Repair by Robert Rosenburg and August Hand. It is not an engineering book with lots of formulas, but it is one of the most practical books on motor operation and repair you will find. It is available on Amazon in both new and used copies.
