I suppose,if you talk to any fabricator , he can give you a piece free.

RE: steel plate

We normally purchase small quantities for welding procedure qualification from any of our Texas plate stockists. The more cuts - the higher the price. I would assume it would be the same for East Coast stockists.

RE: steel plate

Most fabricators would buy HR flats 3/4 x 10, and cut off the 10-1/2" pieces as needed.
Steel service centers are happy to supply cut rectangles to exact dimensions, but charge a little extra for the cross-cuts and for handling the 'small' pieces.
Either way, just fax a RFQ describing what you want to all the service centers you can find, and pick from the quotes.  Not rocket science.

RE: steel plate

Many/most steel service centers won't even talk to you - unless you know someone.  There is a national franchise that handles this exact  problem - something like Metals R Us - can't remember their name.

A welding fabricator might help you - they always have loose pieces setting around.

RE: steel plate

Around here I would try Southwestern Paint Panels for something that small.

RE: steel plate

See if you can find a small "mom & pop" or "father & son" machine/fab shop in your area.  They would fall all over something like this.  They would make a buck and you will save a bundle.
