Rebar grade

(OP)
A job to be performed in African country based on Eurocodes specify rebar grade of 390Mpa.Is this usual there? when I looked in codes they are all 500Mpa.
Any thoughts appreciated.

RE: Rebar grade

Perhaps that was the value used by the designers, with the knowledge that locally sourced reinforcement would not consistantly meet the 500MPa.

Unless the reinforcement is ordered in from overseas, the quality cannot be gauranteed.

RE: Rebar grade

It depends on what reo grade is available. If the reo is coming from certain steel manufacturers in asain countries it is likely that the mill certificates say they have been manufacturered and tested in accordance with all the relevent codes but the steel quality is simply not up to grade.

RE: Rebar grade

We had no problems with Thai steel - independent testing carried out.
