Corrosive resistant Heads
Corrosive resistant Heads
(OP)
Can a painted white head from the manufacturer be used as a corrosive resistant type head in a pool area? If so, is there a reference in the code that states such. I can't find anything anywhere.

A6.2.6.1.1 Examples of such locations include the following:
(22)Area over and around swimming pools, chlorine storage rooms and pool pumo rooms.
I do not believe white painted sprinks are listed for corrosion resistance. However, I've gone after and been granted a variance before to do just that when it was an extremeley small pool room (10 heads, if memory serves me correctly).
By the book, I think you're looking at wax coated or lead.

See the attached Tyco data sheet.
http
Page 5, note 5 states that where polyester coated sprinklers (i.e white) are noted to be UL and c-UL listed, the sprinklers are UL and c-UL listed as corrosion resistant sprinklers.
Wow, learn something new every day.

I just took a look at the Victaulic V27 data sheet and the painted heads are listed as corrosive resistant for all purposes.

The manufacturer is the only one that can determine so.
If the head is white that does not means is corrosion resistant. They call such coating poly coated which in cases is corrosion resistant however does not cover the entire sprinkler head so you still have raw metal exposed to corrosion.
Call your local supplier and obtain the specs if needed
