Pipe in a Section VIII vessel
Pipe in a Section VIII vessel
(OP)
I have a question on code requirements for welding pipe components that form the internals of a Section VIII vessel .
What is the code of construction (if any ) for the welding of pressure retaining piping components that form part of the internal workings of a Section VIII vessel . If you can provide
a code reference that would be appreciated . I have been told that the designer is responsible for spelling out things like visual acceptance / NDE requirements . Comments ?

Specifically with respect to to visual and NDE requirements , what criteria should i use as an inspector to evaluate the welding visually and with RT ? (Is this a code issue or should it be spelled out by engineering ?)
Thanks again

RE: Pipe in a Section VIII vessel
If your situation falls under the above clause (i.e. welded directly) then back to the Division requirements.

I understand that you require further clarifications on the internal pipe components retaining pressure. If they are not pressure retaining components, refer to bernoullies reply.
Sorry for the late return (long weekend, fathers day, BBQ, etc.).
For your test requirements, you have to refer to ASME VIII-1, UG-90(b)(15) and UW-51, UW-52. There you have all the NDE requirements and other references for further clarifications, if required.
