Froude No. Limit in Overboard Caisson

Froude No. Limit in Overboard Caisson

Froude No. Limit in Overboard Caisson

(OP)
I have an existing produced water overbard caisson on an offshore facility.  Due to increasing water rates, the caisson Froude no. will go from 0.3 to 0.7 in the coming years.  Norsok P-001 design guide states max 0.3 for gravity drainage lines.

Do i have to install a bigger caisson or is exceeding the Froude limit tolerable?

Thanks.

RE: Froude No. Limit in Overboard Caisson

Check the fluid velocity too and not just the Froude number. Norsok P-001 recommends maximum for liquid line sizing.
