What is the difference in ASTM A395 vs A536 60-45-12?

Specifically I am interested in why one over the other (irregardless of the small increase in strength). My interest is in valve or fittings. I know that A395 is very commonly used and elevated temp data is also available, but not so for A536.

My use would be from -20F to +650F.

Thanks

RE: Ductile Irons

For valves and fittings, you should be using ASME B16.42 for material, and this references ASTM A 395. Why? Because using a known standard like ASME B16.42 "Ductile Iron Pipe Flanges and Fittings" has been proven for use in service.

RE: Ductile Irons

A395 castings are rated for elevated temperature while A536 are for general use at ambient temperatures.  For your application you should not even be thinking of A536.
