We are using an EPDM or Butadiene Styrene closed cell foam for gasketting some cofferdams.

Can anyone recommend an adhesive for the above foam to steel? The envirnment will be total immersion for several months at a time.

Thanks, Mike... I'll look into this material for next year.  The cofferdams are temporary this year to be properly coated for long term usage.

What about Marine 5200?  It glues metal to fiberglass like nobody's business, and it's got some give to it so deflection won't tear it up.

Just an idea.  Never used it in an engineering application before, but my boat doesn't leak.

RE: Adhesive Required

3M 5200 does work very well indeed, but it's not sticky like the weatherstrip adhesive.
Once cured, it's unbelievably adherent, but until it cures, it's rather slippery, and squeezing the joint will cause the rubber to ooze out unless it's mechanically restrained.  It also takes a couple of days to really cure.

Thanks Mike... be looking at the environmental issues, first...
