Disappearing welds/sections?

Disappearing welds/sections?

Disappearing welds/sections?

(OP)
Hello, We are running NX 6.0.5.3 and the other day I cleaned up a drawing with numerous components detailed The drawing was 3 pages long and had sections and a few sub assemblies some had welds. Coming in on Monday morning and I opened the drawing up to find weld symbols only had the leader and an empty weld line no tail and no notes. Also the sections on the prints were missing cross section arrows on the print. Section letter remained but the cut arrows are not there. A colleague opened the print as well and it opened fine. I closed the print and then reopened it everything looks fine. This has happened a few times. What happens if someone down the road opens the print and updates a dimension and prints the drawing off without realizing the missing items? Anyone have these issues as well? Any solutions?

RE: Disappearing welds/sections?

Force an update on all of your views and see if that fixes the problem.

edit (pull-down) > view > update views > select all the views that are listed, and make sure "show all views in drawing" is toggled on > press apply

RE: Disappearing welds/sections?

Not sure if this would impact your drawing, but when creating the actual weld objects they can be assigned to different layers (as defined in Customer Defaults) and so you might want to make sure that when you open your drawing that the layer visibility status is consistent with the layer status of the model that you're creating the drawing of.

I'll try that next time it happens but I did try updating views and closing all components and reopening them. But most of the issues were with symbols (section cut lines and weld symbols) disappearing not item update issues.

RE: Disappearing welds/sections?

I know what section line issue you are speaking of, and sometimes a view update fixes them.
If the section line is still not showing up properly then edit it and move a segment to its cut position - sometimes if the point that it was attached to is no longer there then it falls off.

Thanks Jerry1423 I'll try this next time this happens. Have you seen the weld attributes also failing? The leader is attached to a line but the settings and notes are user input. Not there the first time opened but shows up after reopening the file. I guess you have to be cautious opening any file to send off.
