Hi:
I am working on a concrete roof slab ( on steel deck) with high uplift pressure.
I need to calculate the stud on steel beam to hold down the slab.
Here is my thought:
1. calculate each beam tributary area for wind uplift force
2. The net uplift force will be taken by studs as tension. Total force on one beam /stud tension capacity ( as provided by vendor)= number of studes required.
3. the stud required = max( required for downward force for composite action, due to uplift force)
Any suggestion on this?

You will need to calculate the bearing capacity of the concrete under the stud head. This will determine how much tensile capacity you have. I don't think you will be able to achieve the stud tension capacity as per the manufacturer.
