Compression springs in NX

Compression springs in NX

Compression springs in NX

(OP)
I'm attempting to model a compression spring in NX i have the main coil sections done using a swept feature and sketches, however i am having difficulty modelling the ends of the springs as the pitch at the spring ends is different to the main coils.

Any help in how this problem can be solved would be much appreciated.

RE: Compression springs in NX

I've used seperate features for the centerline of all the different coils and joined them by associatve editing the arc length back (I use the wire diameter as a rule of thumb) on both ends and re-joined them with a bridge curve. and finally using a tube to create the spring itself.

RE: Compression springs in NX

The topic of "springs" has been brought up in here previously - maybe do a search and see what comes up ~ it may help you
